During the Mass the promise of Obedience was given by the Delegate in Puerto Rico, D. José Eduardo de Santiago, the Sub-Delegate in Puerto Rico, D. Salvador Casellas, and by Dr. Héctor Robles, MD. The Grand Master of the Order was represented at this Ceremony by the President of the Cuban Association.

Order of Merito Melitensis

Several of our Knights and Dames have been awarded the Order of Merito Melitense during 2009.

During the Mass in Puerto Rico last February, two brothers of our Delegation were given this award. To our Delegate in the Island, D. José Eduardo Santiago in the category of Commander, and to our Chaplain,  Mons. Mario Guijarro, the Cross Pro Piis Melitis Nuncupatam.

Afterwards, on March 26 in Miami, Florida, we held a dinner to celebrate the awards of the Order of Merito Melitense bestowed to several of our members.

More recently, during the Chapter General of the Order held in Rome in June, 2009, the Grand Master Fra' Matthew Festing awarded the Grand Cross of Merito Melitense to our President, Exmo. D. Fernando Garcia-Chacon, Knight Grand Cross, Marquis of Salinas.
