White Cross Ball 2009
The White Cross Ball has been established to support the programs of the Cuban Association of the Order of Malta. These programs serve the most vulnerable in our society-the poor and the sick. It also awards the Tuitio Fidei Prize- Defender of the Faith- in order to recognize and honor those who through their public actions witness the principles of our Faith.
White Cross Gala, October 24, 2009
On October 24, 2009 the Tuitio Fidei Prize was awarded to Mr. H. James Towey, a native of South Florida, who has served as the sixteenth President of Saint Vincent College, Latrobe, Pennsylvania since July 1, 2006. He also served for four years as Assistant to the President of the United States and director of the Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives, and was recognized by President George Bush for his work to improve the lives of those in need.
Because of his work with the poor and infirm, the Cuban Association of the Order of Malta awarded Mr. Towey the 2009 Tuitio Fidei Award. The ceremony took place at the Doral Golf and Spa Resort Hotel in Miami, Florida.
These photographs depict the ceremony and the more than 180 participants at the event, Presided by the President of our Association. As part of the event there was a "Silent Auction" for the benefit of the Association Charities. More than $100,000 were collected during the evening Gala.
